Salary Range $21.10-$26.90 Job Posting End Date - Applications will no longer be accepted starting Job Summary Starting Salary: Heavy Equipment Technician I: $21.10 - 32.70 per hour, depending on qualifications. Heavy Equipment Technician II: $22.62 - 35.07 per hour, depending on qualifications. PLUS $.50 per hour for each ASE certificate (up to six). PLUS $.30 per hour tool allowance. If hired after 9/28/2025 will only receive $1200.00 in an annual tool allowance. PLUS $1.25 per hour when working the second shift (1:00 PM to 9:30 PM). FIRST SHIFT: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm SECOND SHIFT: 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM Performs skilled mechanical work analyzing and diagnosing problems; inspecting, replacing and/or repairing defective parts, and performing preventative maintenance on City automobiles, tractors, mowers, trucks, street sweepers, fire trucks and equipment, police cars and/or motorcycles and small engines. This position assigns, oversees work and trains lower lever mechanics as needed. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
