Responsibilities
- Mainly but not limited to:
- Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of port calls, including for cargo and cruise vessels, to ensure safe, efficient and timely turnaround.
- Plan, perform and coordinate port agency work for both cruise and cargo vessels, including berth and terminal arrangements, liaison with all relevant authorities and terminals, and completion of Immigration, Customs and other port formalities related to the vessel's port stay.
- Coordinate and handle all operational and husbandry matters for vessels' port calls, including but not limited to bunkering, cargo and cruise operations, crew changes, stores, provisions, spares, medical assistance and related services.
- Handle vessels' technical calls, including drydocking, ship repairs and related operational arrangements.
- Carry out accurate and timely electronic data entry and updates at all stages of the port call and maintain proper records in the relevant systems.
- Supervise, and where necessary actively handle, port calls in other countries (e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, etc.) by acting as Hub Agent and coordinating with local partners.
- Work and communicate effectively with various Principals (including but not limited to shipowners, charterers and operators) and local suppliers on all ship matters related to the port call.
- Physically attend vessels and act asboarding officer for cash-to-master (CTM) delivery, documentation or any other operational requirement whenever deemed necessary.
- Prepare and issue Proforma Disbursement Accounts (PDA) and forward them to Principals where required.
- Thoroughly verify and submit all vessel-and port-call-related invoices to the Accounts/Finance department for issuance of Final Disbursement Accounts (FDA).
- Perform any other operational or ad hoc duties as may be assigned by the Superior/Management from time to time.
- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- 'N' or 'O' level and above
- 1 - 2 years of previous experience as a port agent
- Experience in handling port agency matters for cruise vessels or being WSH certified will be considered a valuable addition.
- SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Meticulous and willing to learn
