About the role
We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join us on a 6‑month contract, working on complex, high‑availability networks with opportunities to influence design, performance and automation.
Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 support across core network and roadside network environments.
- Maintain high network availability, security compliance, PCI DSS and timely patching.
- Monitor network performance and resolve issues proactively.
- Manage incidents, service requests and changes within SLA and ITIL processes.
- Design and implement network solutions for projects, ensuring high availability and security.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation and simplification of network operations.
- Travel to sites as required, including occasional after-hours work depending on operational needs.
- Key Skills & Experience
- A current unrestricted driver's licence is required. This role involves travel to roadside, motorway and tunnel environments to support upgrades, maintenance and optimisation activities.
- Advanced Cisco expertise (routers, switches, wireless, Nexus).
- Strong routing knowledge: VXLAN, OSPF, BGP, route redistribution.
- Advanced Palo Alto firewall experience.
- Experience with ICS/SCADA networks (Modbus, PLC, control systems).
- Ability to participate in after-hours onsite work during planned change windows is essential.
