Ensure commissioning activities are carryout according to Air Products safety procedures, ensuring important metrics are met or exceeded.
Ensure the accurate types and levels of electrical PPE are available on site and all team members are trained in the accurate use.
Understand and implement the Air Products electrical isolation and LOTO procedures associated with construction, commissioning, and operation of the electrical distribution system.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent experience and formal technical training in electrical construction, maintenance, and testing is required.
5 years of experience in the Electrical Operations or Commissioning Field.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Broad knowledge of technologies supported, electrical standards, electrical safety systems, and engineering and operating procedures a plus.
Able to work in a team environment and maintain a positive disposition even in times of high stress and workload.
Tackle and make good and timely decisions in high stress situations.
Demonstrated ability to operate, commission, startup, solve, assess, and resolve various plant related issues.
Interpret single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, construction drawings/ details, and other electrical user documentation.
Experience and shown understanding of electrical construction and industry standards such as NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
Experience, and knowledge of electrical distribution system equipment.
Experience with setting up and programming various electrical protection relays, particularly SEL and Multilin

The Electrical Commissioning & Startup Technician provides on-site leadership and technical expertise for the safe commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems across new plants, retrofit projects, and turnarounds. Supporting Air Products' facilities throughout the Americas, this role focuses on utilities and power generation systems, ensuring reliable construction and startup across technologies such as hydrogen, syngas, gasification, ammonia, and ASU plants. The technician will lead electrical testing, implement safety procedures, tackle electrical and instrumentation equipment, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and global CSU teams. The role requires significant travel (80-85%), strong hands‑on field experience, proficiency with electrical testing equipment and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA), and the ability to mentor site teams. Successful candidates will complete an 18-24‑month qualification program and help drive consistent global commissioning practices.
