Perform field surveys for special-status species, natural communities, and habitats. Field surveys may include walking transects, walking and mapping habitat boundaries, trapping or collecting specimens, identifying animals by sight and sound.
Perform environmental compliance monitoring, including preconstruction clearance surveys and environmental awareness training. Coordinate with construction crews.
Evaluate project plans in coordination with the task lead for determining potential impacts on special-status species and other biological resources.
Prepare daily field notes summarizing field survey results, monitoring responsibilities, and compliance with environmental permits.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, or other related field of study.
1+ years of experience
Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
What We'd Like You to Have
Experience conducting surveys for San Joaquin kit fox, kangaroo rats, burrowing owl, Swainson's hawk, blunt-nosed leopard lizard, California tiger salamander, and California red-legged frog.
Nesting bird/raptor survey experience.
Experience with monitoring construction crews and overseeing environmental compliance.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word and Excel, data entry and formatting, GPS technology, and data collection in the field.
