Even if you only meet some of the criteria, we'd love to hear from you. About this Program StandBy Support after Suicide was created to deliver support for people bereaved or impacted by suicide . Your role is to directly support community members who have been bereaved or impacted by suicide. In this role, you may also work as part of a team delivering community engagement, education and training, as well as other events and activities. StandBy aims to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the people and communities we support. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, including (but not limited to) Lived Experience of s uicide bereavement , Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and LGBTQIA+ people. To be successful in this role We will support you to draw on your knowledge and skills in supporting people experiencing profound distress, including people bereaved through suicide or dealing with the impact of severe traumatic events. StandBy is delivered by Wellways in the ACT and Murrumbidgee regions. We work within a collaborative environment and you will be involved in delivering community-based projects. Your expertise in critical response management, telephone crisis support, on-call team coordination, trauma informed practice and self-care management practices will be vital to this role. Below is the selection criteria we will use to successfully recruit to this position: Experience working with people bereaved through suicide and/or dealing with severe traumatic events, grief and loss Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal The ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver a consistent, professional experience for clients Experience and skills in critical response management including on-call crisis counselling, telephone crisis support, trauma response, and self-care management practices Demonstrated knowledge and ability in building positive relationships with community groups and service providers relevant to crisis support and bereavement Representation and outreach skills in supporting community activities. You will also need: Minimum Diploma qualifications in a mental health, allied health or community services discipline (psychology, counselling, mental health, social work, or community development) Bereavement counselling or support experience Current valid Driver's License and the ability to undertake travel for the role Current Working with Children Check Working with Vulnerable People Check Right to Work within Australia Satisfactory National Police Records Check
