About the role

The Senior Attorney provides expert advice on regulatory and legal matters related to System-wide biomedical research, clinical trials, grants, institutional compliance and governance, including the Research and Grants Administration Office (RAO). The primary responsibility of this position, as assigned by the Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer, is to provide independent high-level legal advice all Cook entities engaging in or interacting with research type activities. This pivotal role requires a seasoned legal expert with a comprehensive skill set across three core areas: clinical research, data privacy (including GDPR and US privacy laws), and human subject protection policies, procedures, and ethical considerations. This role will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that the System's activities adhere to all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. Education & Experience Law degree required with a license to practice in the state of Texas required Minimum of 8 years of legal experience required. Expertise in clinical agreements, data privacy (including GDPR and US privacy laws) and commercial contracts/legal operations, healthcare law and regulatory compliance Experience in academic medical centers, research institutions or biotechnology firms and familiarity with compliance frameworks such as OHRP, AAHRPP, or AAALAC accreditation Cook Children's Health Care System Cook Children's Health Care System offers a unique approach to caring for children because we are one of the country's leading integrated pediatric health care delivery organizations.
