Cornell University's Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital is seeking a motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our specialty services team. In this role, you'll provide high-quality nursing care to emergency and hospitalized large-animal patients while helping train the next generation of veterinarians in a supportive, inclusive, and world-class teaching hospital.
You'll work with advanced diagnostic tools, assist with emergency procedures, and contribute meaningfully to patient care, client communication, and student learning. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Triaging emergencies and initiating stabilization and treatments.
Managing nursing care of all patients including those that are critically ill.
Providing exceptional care to a diverse caseload from horses, cows, sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, pigs as examples.
Contributing meaningfully to the education of veterinary students, interns, and residents.
Performing diagnostic evaluations and medical procedures bloodwork, ultrasound, endoscopy, radiographs, critical care monitoring and more.
Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited institution, plus NYS licensure or eligible to be licensed required within 3 months of joining along with at least 1 year of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students, clinicians, and peer technicians.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks while paying close attention to details .
Ability to successfully utilize point of care systems, electronic medical record systems, and other hospital applications.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members .
