Design Manager, Transmission

About the role

The Design Manager - Transmission leads the development of transmission line and substation designs. You coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, ensure technical consistency, manage interfaces and provide guidance from early planning through delivery. You evaluate risks, drive innovation and align design solutions with project objectives. Key Accountabilities: Lead planning, coordination and delivery of HV/MV transmission designs Ensure designs are safe, compliant, cost‑effective and constructible Manage interfaces across civil, electrical, protection and controls Mentor engineering teams and uplift capability Apply Australian standards and govern technical quality Identify design risks and propose technical solutions Champion innovation and continuous improvement Support stakeholder engagement, proposals and business development Required Skills and Competencies Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Chartered Status (including RPEV, RPEQ, NER & CPEng), or the ability to achieve within 6 months of commencing, is desirable Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor experience is highly regarded. Extensive experience (10+ years) leading engineering teams in infrastructure/transmission projects. Ideally, 5+ years of fieldwork, supporting hands-on engineering and site collaboration. Experience with standards like IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS and a strong safety-first mindset.
