About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Revenue Director leads NJ PBS's fundraising, development, and earned-revenue strategy with the goal of building a financially resilient public media organization. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design and execute a comprehensive revenue strategy encompassing individual giving, membership, corporate underwriting, foundation grants, major gifts, and planned giving. Oversee on-air and digital membership drives, pledge campaigns, and year-round membership stewardship efforts. Lead outreach to corporate sponsors and underwriters; develop competitive sponsorship packages in compliance with FCC underwriting regulations. Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with private foundations, community foundations, and government grant programs. Develop annual and multi-year revenue projections; track performance against goals. Oversee donor database systems (CRM) to ensure accurate record-keeping, segmentation, and donor communications. Supervise the Membership manager, underwriting representative, and major gifts officer. Lead efforts to build an operating reserve and execute a path toward financial independence from state appropriations. Perform other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.
Requirements
- REQUIRED
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in the communications, media, or related industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading nonprofit development or media revenue operations, including individual giving, corporate underwriting, and foundation grants.
- Experience managing multi-million dollar fundraising programs and diverse revenue portfolios.
- PREFERRED
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in public media fundraising, including pledge drives, major gifts, and corporate underwriting.
- Familiarity with the New Jersey philanthropic and corporate landscape.
