Primary Function of Position The Shipping Supervisor reports to the Materials Management Director and is responsible for leading daily shipping operations to ensure all outbound shipments are executed safely, accurately, on time, and in compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulations. Essential Job Duties Develop resource and staffing projections to support departmental forecasting and workload planning. Track daily/shift shipment activity and ensure all outbound deliveries meet required deadlines and service levels. Address performance concerns by issuing corrective/disciplinary actions and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with company policy. Measure, analyze, and report team performance metrics; communicate results and drive actions to meet departmental targets. Process and administer payroll for department staff, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Monitor operational metrics and implement corrective actions to maintain performance against established goals. Respond to urgent shipping requests and changing priorities to ensure on-time shipment completion. Promote a collaborative, team-oriented work environment and strengthen cross-shift/peer cooperation. Follow up on assigned nonconformities (NCs) and nonconformance reports (NCRs) related to shipping; support investigation and closure activities. Support and participate in internal audits, including documentation preparation, corrective actions, and follow-up. Coordinate shipment planning and execution with internal departments to streamline processes and improve delivery performance. Create and manage purchase orders in procurement systems for packaging and shipping supplies. Utilize and support shipping operations through WMS/ERP platforms including SAP and TMS (Transportation management system) to plan, execute, and document shipments. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and availability of packaging materials to support shipping operations. Support all activities related to CTPAT certification, including compliance requirements, documentation management, and audit readiness. Oversee onboarding for new hires and implement training and development plans to support performance and retention. Facilitate and coordinate English ISU training for team members, including scheduling, attendance tracking, and follow-up as needed. Utilize and support shipping operations through WMS/ERP platforms (including SAP) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to plan, execute, and document shipments. Required Skills and Experience 1-3 years of experience as a Shipping Supervisor or in a similar shipping/logistics leadership role. Working knowledge of shipping operations, including outbound execution, documentation, and meeting service-level deadlines. Experience tracking operational KPIs and taking corrective action to maintain performance to targets. Experience coaching, training, and onboarding employees; ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with shipping/warehouse and business systems, including SAP (ERP)/WMS and TMS Platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., suppliers, carriers). Ability to work a flexible schedule, including shift and weekend coverage as needed. Required Education and Training Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business) preferred but not required. Completion of on-the-job training in shipping operations, internal procedures, and department-specific workflows. Basic proficiency with shipping, inventory, and timekeeping/payroll systems (e.g., ERP/WMS/TMS platforms). Completion of required safety and workplace compliance training (e.g., EHS, PPE, equipment operation) as applicable to the role. Preferred Skills and Experience Prior experience SAP and procurement platforms. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written (approximately 80% proficiency).
