Recruiting process will be in English The Team: You will report to the Analytical Manager for Global Scale Ratings, Latin America, and be working closely with a number of highly experienced industry specialists, not only in Latin America but globally. The Global Infrastructure Practice was established by S&P Global Ratings to expand our ratings franchise in an area of strong growth and to leverage our significant global infrastructure expertise across the full range of infrastructure and energy asset classes. The Impact: As a Senior Analyst in our Infrastructure team, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of credits while contributing to S&P Global's reputation as the leading provider of infrastructure ratings globally. Your analytical expertise will directly influence investment decisions and market confidence, while your client relationships will strengthen our position in this high-growth sector.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of a portfolio of credits
- Arranging review meetings for all entities assigned in line with our surveillance standards
- Understanding financial statements and preparing detailed forecasts
- Summarizing findings and conclusions (including rating implications) at management meetings and discussing with management
- Independently preparing and presenting analysis and recommendations to credit committees
- Actively participating in committees
- Undertaking research in support of S&P Global Ratings published commentaries
- Communicating with market players for rating rationale and criteria application
- Actively managing relationships with issuers, intermediaries and investors
- Understanding and implementing S&P's policies and procedures
- Demonstrating accountability for work quality and meeting deadlines consistently
- Taking initiative in identifying process improvements and contributing innovative solutions
- Building effective working relationships across teams and with external stakeholders
- All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
Requirements
- Basic Required Qualifications:
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3+ years of relevant experience within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of financial analysis
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related subject
- Understanding of the power, utilities or infrastructure asset classes
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts
- Proficiency with calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with strict and tight deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure
- Experience in managing, interpreting, and synthesizing data for analytical purposes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Team player with excellent time management skills
- Fluent in English. Advanced Portuguese is a plus
- Excel skills (including formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data, filters)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer
- Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or master's degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics and/or CFA
- Strong proficiency with Excel & VBA, financial models and financial data
- Strong PowerPoint and database application skills
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C++, MATLAB, Python, R or VBA)
- Experience in mentoring junior team members or leading small project teams
- Track record of contributing to process improvements or efficiency initiatives
