About the role
Performs invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film/image processing, patient monitoring and x-ray equipment. Participates in the daily activities of the lab by assisting with scrub, float, monitor, and imaging technology roles. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Provides and ensures quality care for patients as indicated by their clinical condition Assesses the patient, reviews chart for orders and lab results Prepares patients for procedure Performs in the scrub role setting up sterile field Assists with pacemaker, AICD, and intraventricular device implants Assists with electrophysiology studies and ablations (atrial and ventricular) including the use of various electrophysiological recording, mapping and navigation systems, cardiac stimulators and ablation equipment (RF and Cryo) Performs in the monitor role by observing and documenting hemodynamic, EKG, and pressure waveforms Ensures that time-outs occur prior to beginning procedures Provides a safe environment to include but not limited to radiation exposure, contrast administration, and infection control guidelines/Universal Precautions for the EP Lab, and the Health System Participates in the ongoing cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs quality control program, preventive maintenance, and performance improvement programs Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development of the younger to older adult and understands the range of treatment based on the patient's developmental needs Other duties as assigned
