Selects, trains, orients, develops, coaches, evaluates and counsels staff consistent with Human Resources management practices.

Collaborates with leadership to plan, prepare, implement, monitor and control the budget to ensure sound fiscal management consistent with the goals of the hospital.

Responsible and accountable for planning, organizing and directing essential patient care functions for assigned unit. Assists in development, implementation and integration of performance improvement plans into unit practice. Assures implementation and maintenance of departmental/hospital Policies, Procedures and Standards of Care. Assures all State and Federal laws and TJC standards are in compliance in areas of responsibility. Assists with on-unit and department-specific education for clinical staff. Assists in ensuring staff competency, ongoing skills assessment and opportunities for growth. Utilizes nursing research and evidence-based practice in nursing as a model for quality initiatives and nursing excellence.
