The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Human Resources Management. We seek a dedicated and dynamic individual to contribute to our innovative and forward-thinking programs in the field of Human Resources Management. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, demonstrated research expertise, and significant industry experience as a practitioner in Human Resources Management.
The position is a full-time, open rank, non-tenure track, renewable appointment located in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance and are expected to be available to students online and in person as needed.
Teaching and actual course load may vary with other responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:
Teaching & Curricular Oversight (approximately 80% of time)
Teach a variety of graduate courses in Human Resources Management, including but not limited to topics such as talent acquisition, organizational development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and strategic HR management.
Engage in curriculum development, program assessment, and the integration of emerging HR trends and practices into academic offerings.
Oversee the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum. Responsibilities include supporting the CPS Operations in the selection of part-time instructors, advising on syllabi, and evaluating part-time instructor performance.
Mentor and advise students, guiding them in their academic and professional development.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, staying current on the latest HR trends and best practices.
Service & Professional Development (approximately 20% of time)
Create professional development opportunities for full and part-time faculty in the unit.
Serve on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.
Promote the discovery and dissemination of knowledge through scholarship, research, creative activity, and professional development.
Faculty must demonstrate ongoing, substantive academic and/or professional engagement to ensure currency and relevancy within their field and to contribute to the institution's mission, consistent with AACSB Standard.
Travel
In addition to supporting the campus, occasional travel may be
required to the University's global network of campuses.
Examples of required travel include the annual CPS Graduation and Faculty Conference.
Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations
Requirements
Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Management, Psychology, or a closely related discipline within Human Resources Management by appointment start date.
Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and professional engagement, including publications in reputable, peer-reviewed academic journals.
Significant professional experience in Human Resources Management or a related field, ideally at the senior or executive level, with the ability to integrate industry insights into teaching.
Dedication to promoting an inclusive, equitable, and diverse academic environment.
Experience teaching in online or hybrid learning formats.
Proven involvement in industry partnerships, consulting projects, or collaborative initiatives.
This is a non-tenure track, annually renewable position. This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes being present on the Boston campus, required evening hours and the possibility of weekend hours. Travel to the University's other campuses may be required.
