About the role

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT),Division of Identity Management Enterprise Systems (DIMES). As an IT Specialist (Cybersecurity Architecture), GS-2210-14, you will serve as a technical lead that develops comprehensive cybersecurity solutions for critical systems,while supporting the transformation of security frameworks into new cloud-based security infrastructures. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; AND 4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Serving as a lead or principal cybersecurity architect responsible for designing, documenting, and implementing enterprise or mission-critical security architectures for complex IT environments; AND 2) Designing and integrating cloud-based cybersecurity architectures in Azure, AWS, or GCP, including secure landing zones, identity architectures, logging pipelines, and security monitoring solutions; AND 3) Architecting and integrating cybersecurity technologies such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, network security controls, identity and access management (IAM), encryption technologies, and vulnerability management tools; AND 4) Providing technical leadership and consultative support to system owners, engineers, and senior stakeholders by reviewing security designs, producing architecture diagrams, and advising on secure system integration and modernization efforts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
