Description of Work SALARY RANGE: $48,243.00 - $73,617.00 Serves as the primary point of contact for the Guardian ad Litem program with potential volunteers and community. Provides administrative and office management support to the District Administrator and Program Supervisor staff in a Guardian ad Litem district program. Actively participates in district volunteer recruitment, screening and processing incoming volunteer inquiries, maintains client and program records, logs and compiles data, prepares statistical reports, prepares and maintains legal documents, maintains court calendar of incoming cases and case reviews, and notifies appropriate parties of the same. Assigns cases to and supervises volunteers; recruits, orients, and trains new volunteers; guides volunteers in case preparation and serves as liaison with program attorneys. Performs GAL supervisor duties less than 20 hours per week. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Respond to inquiries from potential volunteers. Process volunteer applications, including criminal, reference and other required checks. Create letters, reports, memos, newsletters and other office communication. May maintain online profiles for the program, including website, volunteer sites, and social media. Answer phone, take messages, route calls; provide program information to callers; process and distribute mail. Create and maintain up-to-date filing system for volunteer and case records. Compile monthly statistics insuring accuracy and timeliness. Responsible for database management. Process volunteer appointment and release orders. Track case assignments and volunteer availability for additional case appointments. Maintain a calendar of incoming court cases and case reviews. This position is stationed in the Onslow County office and requires travel to counties in the Judicial district, as well as other counties where child clients may be placed. Knowledge of: Guardian ad Litem program regulations, policies and procedures; supervision techniques and practices; child neglect and abuse laws; adolescent development and behavior; family dynamics; the court process; community resources; GAL training material; and interviewing techniques. Skills in: Microsoft Word and Excel; preparing statistical reports; writing reports; interviewing clients and volunteers; and supervising volunteers. Ability to: supervise volunteers and evaluate their performance; provide guidance to volunteers in writing investigation plans, reports to the court, and making recommendations to the court in the best interest of children; provide creative leadership in recruiting, supervising, and maintaining volunteers; speak effectively in public; clearly express ideas orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
