Employee Type: Supplemental (Seasonal) Department: Interstate Fair Salary: $17.13-$17.66 Overtime Eligibile: Yes Job Posting Date Range: 04/30/2026 - Until Filled Job Summary: GENERAL PURPOSE Positions allocated to this classification perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks and/or routine clerical and cashiering duties for the Fair and Exposition Center. Positions may be specific to the period of the annual Interstate Fair, or on-going extra help assignments. Work is performed under general supervision. Incumbents may operate light power equipment and/or drive a motorized cart, depending on the area of assignment. Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Interstate Fair Assignments: TICKET TAKER/SELLER: Takes gate tickets from persons entering the Interstate Fair Stamps hands of Fair attendees who are returning the same day. May work either under cover or outdoors, with limited or no protection from the weather. Fast paced in some areas including the main gate and entrance into the grandstand Works directly with public, at a fast pace (depending on area of assignment) Handles cash, issues change, reconciles tickets and cash (for Ticket Sellers) EXHIBIT/LIVESTOCK CLERK: Helps set up exhibit displays. Assists judges & superintendents, as needed; records judges' decisions. Accepts & returns exhibits from exhibitors. Writes information on tags, and places tags on appropriate animal stalls (for Livestock Clerk) Performs other duties, as needed; work is performed primarily indoors. GENERAL LABOR (JANITORIAL, BARNS CLEANER): Cleans restrooms including entrances, toilets, sinks, fixtures, walls, and floors. Replaces supplies in rest room areas including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. Continually monitors restrooms to ensure they are orderly and appropriately stocked for use. Wipes down various surfaces (tables, etc.); sweeps and mops floors. Empties refuse containers, picks up litter around grounds. Cleans animal stalls, shovels, & pushes wheelbarrows (for Barns Cleaner) Changes layouts for animals coming in to show. May work indoors or outdoors, when areas are open and/or closed to the public. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Three (3) month combination of any training and/or experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities for the particular assignment. BACKGROUND CHECK: Positions require successfully passing a criminal background check. LICENSE : Certain positions may require a valid driver's license. WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate. Work may also be performed outdoors, requiring occasional travel within the County, exposing the employee to weather extremes, various forms of precipitation and the hazards associated with travel on public roads using their own vehicle.
