About the role

The Conversion and Core Modeling team builds the decision systems that connect customers with agents across Zillow's marketplace. The team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Applied Science to improve routing and allocation systems that drive marketplace performance, with a strong focus on transparency, fairness, and measurable business impact. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will build and scale machine learning and decision systems that help match Zillow customers with trusted partners in our marketplace. You will work on high-impact problems involving routing, allocation, and model evaluation, and you will help improve how these systems perform in production while making them more transparent, reliable, and explainable for business decision-making at scale. You Will Get To Build, improve, and productionize machine learning and optimization systems that support routing and allocation decisions across Zillow's marketplace. Define success metrics, evaluate model and system performance, and support experimentation to improve business outcomes and operational quality. Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Applied Science to frame problems, communicate tradeoffs, and align on decision approaches. Write and maintain production-quality Python and SQL code to support model development, deployment, monitoring, and diagnostics. Identify system limitations, unintended effects, and opportunities to improve fairness, reliability, and explainability in marketplace decision systems. This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company.
