Job Expectations We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a General Manager State Government Relations . This role will report to the Executive General Manager, Government Relations. A bit about your role As the General Manager State Government Relations, you will set and drive nbn's enterprise-wide engagement strategy with state and territory governments, bringing a clear, consistent and strategic approach to how we build trusted relationships nationally. You will shape nbn's position on policy, funding and regulatory matters, influencing outcomes over a 3-5-year horizon while strengthening connection with Ministers, advisers and departments. You will lead a nationally distributed team of senior government relations professionals, providing clarity, direction and cohesion aligned by state ownership. Through your leadership, you will guide engagement across all states, maintain direct involvement in senior stakeholder relationships, and support executive-level interactions. The role plays a critical part in shaping outcomes for nbn, identifying and progressing partnership and co-investment opportunities with state and territory governments and ensuring a coordinated response in complex or crisis scenarios. You will also work closely with the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and other Executive Committee members, Federal Government Relations team and Corporate Affairs, providing strategic insight that informs enterprise decision-making and strengthens alignment between internal priorities and external expectations. A bit about you You bring deep experience within ministerial offices and/or government departments, with a strong understanding of how state and territory governments operate, make decisions and engage with industry. You are confident navigating complex policy and regulatory environments and bring a strategic, considered approach to influencing outcomes that balances commercial priorities with public interests. You build trusted relationships with ease and are comfortable engaging at the most senior levels. Your influence is grounded in credibility, insight and a collaborative, inclusive style that brings others with you. As a leader, you create clarity and alignment across geographically dispersed teams, fostering a supportive environment where people feel connected, valued and empowered to contribute.
