Salary: $30.29 per hour Job Summary: The primary function of a Community Service Officer is directed towards service to, and interaction with, the public and the community of Meridian City. An employee in this class functions under general supervision and must exercise some latitude of discretion in relation to the performance of duties, while maintaining professional integrity and adhering to department policy and procedure, the law enforcement code and canons of ethics, all applicable laws, and the provisions of the Idaho State and United States Constitutions. The Community Service Officer responds to calls for service and writes police reports for criminal and non-criminal incidents. The work can involve an element of personal danger and an employee in this class must be able to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. Job Specifications: Must be a citizen of the United States; Must be at least twenty (20) years of age; Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record; 60 or more college credits from an accredited institution as listed in the U.S. Department of Education database, or have three (3) years of active duty military service with an honorable discharge, or possess an Idaho Basic POST Certificate in Patrol or out of state equivalent; Must meet the requirements of Meridian Police Department policy including, but not limited to: No criminal conviction for any felony and certain misdemeanors; No misdemeanor convictions within the last five (5) years; No drug use in the last five (5) years; Must be of good moral character, and successfully undergo a background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological exam, medical exam and drug screening; Must adhere to the law enforcement code and canon of ethics; Willing to enforce and abide by the provisions of the Idaho and United States Constitutions and the duly enacted laws of each, as well as the ordinances of the City of Meridian.
