About the Position: This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and building materials in various trades such as carpentry, painting, sheet metal, roofing, masonry and tile setting. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance and repair activities at a facility. I can construct, install, repair, and modify wood and wood substitute structures and items. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Incumbent lifts, carries, and handles equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance. Works from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, or cramped areas where equipment, parts, or tools are hard to reach. Work frequently requires standing, stooping, stretching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions for extended periods. In addition, work involves frequent movement and maneuvering of large, heavy furniture and equipment. Working Conditions: The work is accomplished both inside and outside. When working outside, incumbent may be exposed to hot sun, and dusty conditions for extended periods of time and occasionally to bad weather. Outside work may be performed in marsh areas. Inside work is often accomplished in structural areas with minimum ventilation and/or limited access. Discomfort may be experienced while wearing protective clothing, respirators, goggles, or face masks for extended periods of time. Works near moving equipment and machinery, energized electrical circuits, sharp metal edges, loud noises, and eye hazardous areas.
