Position Summary The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for determining the optimal manufacturing methods and processes to support company products from initial start-up, building the product line, through satisfactory production. This role involves analyzing engineering design documentations to establish efficient, repeatable manufacturing methods and processes, developing conceptual sketches and initiating the design, build and qualification of required tooling and equipment. In this position, you will be responsible for providing primary engineering support for your assigned departments in the manufacturing operation, including providing problem resolution to manufacturing issues to ensure the strongest processes to reduce variability and ensure ease of productivity. You will also provide engineering support to ensure manufacturability of existing and new products, maintaining a process strategy, including equipment selection and maintenance, plant layout, tooling and operator training, for your assigned area(s). Additionally, you will be responsible for continuous improvement (Kaizen and Lean manufacturing) to ensure key safety, quality and cost goals are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Describes outside vendor services needed for the manufacture of a component. Establishes outsourced vendor manufacturing & quality plans. Supports continuous improvement to product cost, quality, and performance by utilizing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies. Drive process improvements through standard work which aid in improved productivity and flow as well as looking for opportunities to introduce automation into production to reduce cycle times. Develop manufacturing processes, procedures and tooling used to produce final assembly, related sub-assemblies, and new product, including execution of all engineering and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) from development through full production launch. Support sustainment activities by aiding in the selection of replacement components when existing parts become obsolete. Train production personnel as needed on process changes and improvements. Periodically review processing, assembly, and packing methods, procedures and equipment for capability and efficiency of assigned areas and ensure compliance with all equipment PM and calibration requirements.
