As an Underwriter within our Renewal Connect team, you'll play a key role in managing renewals and mid‑term adjustments for a varied portfolio of higher‑volume, lower‑premium business. You'll work closely with brokers and internal teams to deliver an efficient, proactive underwriting service, while helping retain and grow our renewal book.
You'll be approachable and trusted by brokers - someone who takes ownership, spots opportunities, and contributes positively to the wider team.
Responsibilities
Underwriting renewals and mid‑term adjustments within your authority and company guidelines
Providing a responsive, high‑quality service to brokers via Acturis, email and phone
Prioritising renewal activity to meet deadlines and retain business
Proactively following up renewals and supporting retention and upsell opportunities
Monitoring broker activity and sharing insights with your Team Leader
Answering incoming broker calls promptly and professionally
Building strong internal relationships, particularly with Technical teams in Leeds
Contributing to underwriting meetings, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
Previous insurance experience with sound underwriting or technical knowledge
Strong communication skills - confident working with brokers and colleagues
High accuracy, attention to detail, and sound numerical ability
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment
Good IT skills, including MS Office (Acturis knowledge is a plus, but not essential)
Studying towards or willing to study for CII qualifications
Experience in our lines of business is helpful, but not a requirement - we care more about your outlook, potential and approach to service
