The evaluation service links on the following site are provided by South Texas College for your convenience but are not affiliated with South Texas College: NACES Members Job Description Department: Organizational Leadership Bachelor Program General Statement of Job The Academic Coach serves as a liaison between South Texas College and other relevant entities involved in competency-based and other modality degree programs; manages students and monitors their course progress to ensure maximum success; and, when necessary, assists other Bachelor Program student success specialists with case management. Further, the Academic Coach closely collaborates with the department chairs of the Bachelor Programs to ensure proper implementation and supervision of elements critical to its success. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty and student orientations, overview of course development and application, budgetary administration, and ongoing student recruitment and public relations. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Responsible for key aspects of budgetary implementation and overview, which include but are not limited to the projection and development of the program's budget; analysis of program expenditures; and collaborative fiscal overview. Conducts demonstration lessons to ensure that all teachers have been adequately trained, assists teachers in preparation and pacing for instruction, and ensures that all instructional staff are familiar with program policies and procedures. Serves as liaison between South Texas College and other relevant entities. Creates purposeful interactions between students and academic institutions to design individualized, student-centered educational plans that lay the foundation for student success. Consults with faculty to promote student course completion and to ensure submission of the course syllabi/outlines to the college website. Participates in collaborative grade level/department meetings to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve student achievement. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to student progress and the overall performance of the Bachelor Programs for submission to South Texas College and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Monitors the accuracy of all information related to the program in the catalog and other college publications. Supervises the maintenance of the course inventory, major codes, program inventory, course prerequisites and all special projects as deemed appropriate by the Dean for Math, Science and Bachelor Programs. Provides goal-oriented advising prior, during, and upon completion of the degree plan and directs students to institutional resources relevant to career exploration. Assists students in developing class schedules based on individual needs, establishing goals for higher levels of engagement with their own academic progress and success, and understanding academic studies curriculum requirements and the relationship between majors and careers. Assumes primary responsibility for implementing early intervention and follow-up for students assigned to the Bachelor Programs. Provides general information on policies and procedures related to academic probation and suspension, dropping courses, and satisfactory academic progress. Provides general information about financial aid and scholarship requirements and processes, as well as other options for financing their education. Assists students in addressing problems and connects them with appropriate support services on campus. Manages confidential and computerized student information. Collaborates with students, student organizations, and/or academic departments and programs; works within the College's learning management system. Maintains familiarity with the
