About the role
The primary role of the IT Systems Engineer is to manage core IT systems and support both operational and scientific teams. This role uses a ticketing system to track and resolve issues while coordinating closely with key stakeholders. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering / infrastructure administration.
- Strong background in IT hardware, software, and cloud systems including workstations, Office365 apps, cloud services, security systems, and collaboration tools.
- Demonstrated strong experience with IT ticketing systems
- Required experience with MDM solutions (such as InTune). Experience with JAMF a plus.
- Working knowledge with Windows, Mac OS, mobile devices, and other IT peripherals.
- Ability to capture and understand workstation event logs and performance metrics.
- Knowledge and experience with DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and other network systems and protocols.
- Experience managing server rooms, including patch cabling, enterprise network appliances, and servers.
- Understands compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST) to support audit requirements.
- Experience with Active Directory and Entra ID user and group management, Single Sign-On (SSO) and auto provisioning.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Google, etc.) preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and change-control discipline.
- May require occasional after-hours or weekend work.
