Job Description: The Veterinary Technology Program at Austin Community College prepares students for successful careers as Licensed Veterinary Technicians by providing high-quality education aligned with national and state credentialing standards. The program emphasizes critical thinking, sound decision-making, and the development of essential clinical skills needed to function effectively in veterinary practice, research, and related professional settings. Through a comprehensive curriculum that includes classroom instruction, laboratory training, and supervised clinical experiences, students gain hands-on preparation in animal care, surgical assistance, medical treatment, and laboratory procedures. Graduates are well prepared to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Examination and state licensure exams and to enter the veterinary workforce with confidence. Principal Responsibilities and Duties Provides veterinary care to primarily small animals. Prepare and teach courses in the Veterinary Technology Department to a multicultural student population based on the program's approved course learning outcomes and accreditation standards, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline. Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, and other departmental activities. Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations. Serve as a mentor and faculty advisor to students in the Veterinary Technology program.
