Technical Development Specialist (ABAP)

Company : Sime Darby Auto Bavaria Sdn. Bhd. Job Description: Domain expertise Design, develop, test, and implement custom SAP solutions, reports, and enhancements in ABAP (RICEF objects). Participate in the ECC to S/4HANA migration project, including code remediation, optimization for HANA, and testing activities. Develop and maintain integration interfaces with external systems (IDoc, RFC, OData, REST, SOAP, etc.). Support SAP Fiori/UI5 application development in S/4HANA environment. Ensure deliverables meet quality, performance, and maintainability standards before deployment into production. Software design Designs and architects software applications, components and modules. Uses appropriate modelling techniques in line with agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodologies. Produces and communicates multiple design views to address stakeholder concerns and meet both functional and non-functional requirements including security. Reviews, verifies and enhances own designs against specifications and leads reviews of others' designs. Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Programming/software development Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Plans and drives software construction activities. Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to the development of organizational policies, standards and guidelines for software development. System integration and build Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testing. Contributes to the development of organizational policies, standards and guidelines for systems integration. System development management Participate in technical design reviews, performance optimization, and system upgrades. Contributes to the planning and management of systems development work. Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects. Ensures projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses security and privacy requirements. Contributes to the continuous improvement of systems development processes and practices. Software lifecycle management Provides support for implementing systems and software lifecycle practices by applying established methods and procedures. Provide ongoing support for SAP systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to ensure system stability and performance. Supports automation and continuous integration processes under direction. Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of lifecycle management activities. Collaborate with vendors and external partners to resolve technical issues and implement best practices. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing activities. Take active role in system changes, enhancements, and projects. Interact with key stakeholders (including service providers like DXC and SAP) and ensure effective stakeholder management. Job Requirements: Education / Professional Qualification The Job - Bachelor's degree in the following: o Computer Science, o Information System, o Software Engineering Or equivalent experiences . Minimum 7 years of experience in SAP development. Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies. Adaptability to manage both project-related activities and day-to-day operational support. SAP technical certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver or ABAP for SAP HANA) preferred. Technical Strong expertise in SAP ABAP programming, including ABAP Objects, ALV, BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits, Enhancements, and CDS Views. Experience with SAP S/4HANA technical development, including Fiori/UI5, OData services, and HANA database programming (AMDP, SQLScript). Familiarity with SAP integration technologies such as IDocs, ALE, RFC, SOAP, REST, and SAP Cloud Integration. Strong understanding of SAP development standards, naming conventions, and transport management processes. Ability to conduct technical code reviews to ensure compliance with best practices, performance optimization, and security requirements. Awareness of SAP's Clean Core principles and extensibility options for S/4HANA (in-app and side-by-side extensions) Interpersonal Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate technical solutions and identify improvements. High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, defect-free developments. Excellent communication skills for liaising between business users, functional specialist, and external AMS/vendor developers. Ability to provide constructive feedback and technical guidance to vendor development teams.
