About the role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Tenant Management team, you'll help build the next phase of Zillow Rental Manager. The team is expanding the product from a listing tool into a property management platform that helps landlords and property managers handle rent collection, maintenance, accounting, tenant communications, and other day-to-day workflows after a lease is signed. This team plays an important role in making Zillow Rental Manager a product operators rely on every day. This is an opportunity to build a customer-facing payments experience that already processes millions of dollars in rental transactions each day. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will lead development of a core backend integration that helps operators collect rent and manage finances more effectively. You'll own meaningful systems end to end and partner closely with product and design to deliver experiences that directly impact property managers using Zillow Rental Manager. You Will Get To: Design, build, and maintain backend services, microservices, and APIs that support rent collection, operator finances, and tenant management workflows. Lead a new backend integration from design through production, including architecture and data flow decisions across services. Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of systems that handle high request volumes and large datasets. Design and optimize data models and queries for large production datasets. Troubleshoot complex production issues and deliver changes safely. Partner with product managers and designers to solve high-impact problems for operators. Contribute to front-end development in JavaScript or React when it helps move the product forward. Help scale a payments product that supports millions of dollars in rental transactions. This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and instead work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live anywhere in Mexico, with availability to travel to Mexico City, as we recommend attendance at occasional office events. In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.
