Serve as a subject matter expert for software development with government, other FFRDCs, and SETA personnel directly supporting the GBRD program manager and lead engineer
Work on multi-phase projects to bring new radar capability into operations for the SDA mission
Understand contractor's SW architecture from high level software down to the physical layer in order to assess deficiencies, risk, resiliency, and efficiency
Lead SW integration efforts for any third-party systems that the contractor's SW must interface with and/or platforms to be hosted on
Working new efforts and requirements through the program's Agile process
Understand and assess data architecture
Initiate acquisition of Aerospace Engineering Technology Group teams, and lead analyses in requirements development, risk evaluation, sensor performance, and system-of systems engineering
Act as spokesperson for, and as a senior mentor to, government customers on software architecture, development strategy, design, performance, and operations for new SDA radar systems capability
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements - Sr. Project Engineer - Communication Systems & Systems Engineering - Acquisition:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Remote Sensing, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing or related technical engineering discipline
12 or more years of technical or programmatic experience in software development and software architecture
Experience with modern toolchains and SW virtualization such as containers and virtual machines
Experience with agile software development processes
Experience with modern Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) architectures and constructs
Experience with cloud technologies
Track record of leading matrixed technical teams
Substantive experience with DoD acquisition processes
Proven ability to identify and assess risk areas and to work closely with engineering and program office peers, customers, and contractor personnel to resolve issues quickly
Willing to travel domestically/internationally approx. 10%
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance

The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. As a Phased Array Radar Software Engineer within the Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Sensors & Analytics (S2A) department within the Enterprise Ground Division, you will perform duties in support of the chief engineer and program manager for the multi-billion dollar for the Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) upgrade of UEWR, PARCS, Cobra Dane, and Eglin radars. This includes providing technical leadership for acquiring, designing, building, integrating, and testing these ground-based radars for SDA and work with stakeholders across the national security space enterprise.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Colorado Springs, CO.
