About the role
We have an amazing opportunity to join us as a Compliance Officer (Part-time) . A hands-on, purpose-driven role where your knowledge of health, safety, and fire compliance will help ensure our buildings are safe, legally compliant, and the best they can be for the residents who call them home. We own and manage c.8,000 homes in the east of England, working closely with other agencies and stakeholders within our communities. We build on the good foundations we have in place in being a customer-centric organisation, investing in our existing homes - including our zero-carbon journey - as well as building new homes. A lot of our roles come with options around home and office flexible working, as well as a generous annual leave allowance and other benefits. Please note: this role is part-time working 22,2 hours per week, ideally worked across Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (but this is open for discussion). Outline of key responsibilities... Carry out periodic health, safety, and fire inspections across the communal areas of our residential properties, supporting our wider compliance regime and ensuring our buildings remain safe for residents Record detailed inspection findings accurately on our Health, Safety and Risk Assessment (HSRA) database, ensuring all records are thorough, up to date, and audit-ready Identify and risk assess safety hazards by evaluating the likelihood of occurrence and potential consequences, enabling colleagues to prioritise and resolve issues effectively Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, recommending practical mitigation measures to ensure risks are resolved quickly and correctly first time Carry out a broad range of inspection checks, including but not limited to: Functionality of fire and exit doors Ensuring escape routes are free from obstruction Confirming fire safety signage is appropriately placed Checking firefighting equipment, including fire extinguishers and fire blankets, is in date and being regularly tested Monitoring the storage of items in communal areas Visual inspection of electrical safety in shared spaces Ensuring electrical appliances are registered on the Personal Appliance Testing programme and in date Assessing building security Testing active fire precautions, including fire alarms, smoke ventilation systems, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting We are looking for someone who has... A basic understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework for social housing Basic knowledge of building maintenance Ability to assess & mitigate health & safety risks and hazards. Solution orientated and able to think 'outside the box' to resolve issues. NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent (desirable) IOSH Managing Safety (desirable) A full UK driving license and access to own vehicle In return, we are offering...
