SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs administrative work and a typing speed of 40 Words per Minute (WPM) is required. You must certify your typing speed in the Assessment Questionnaire. Failure to provide this information will result in your being determined ineligible. -AND- To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as organizing functions of an office; making travel arrangements and preparing travel vouchers, preparing and reviewing correspondence; assisting with budget activities; processing time and attendance records; providing administrative support services; and utilizing computer skills to navigate through computer software. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, I have 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), combined with three (3) years of college study (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours). NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement). One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement in addition to the Selective Factor above. EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include performing a wide variety of transactions for more than one type if assigned activity and functional specialization. Assignments are subject to different sets of rules, regulations and procedures. Examines issues and determines a course of action using comprehensive knowledge of rules, regulations and other guidelines relating to the program area assigned. Uses knowledge attained through extensive, increasingly difficult and practical experience in the subject matter field, requiring an ability to interpret and apply regulatory and procedural requirements to process unusually difficult and complicated transactions.You must include hours per week work
