Additional Information
IDEXX Auckland is looking for a Senior Back End Software Engineer with a passion for data, to join a new team we are building in the Auckland office!
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer will be part of our Data services team where they are building infrastructure, schemas, and frameworks that ensure data flows efficiently and securely to consumers that need this data. The position will be driving the vision for data streaming and deliver new services and products for sharing and modelling data within our cloud - based veterinary application.
This is a software engineering role heavy on data, NOT a data science or data engineering position. This is about engineering rock-solid data pipelines from disparate sources, aligning with enterprise architecture, and collaborating with stakeholders to evolve our data ecosystem.
The team will be responsible for building a data layer so our internal teams and customers can better leverage the data within our software products. Our products process a huge amount of data, so you need to be confident dealing with large data volumes . This team will be pivotal in bringing this data all together . This role will be hands on technically, as well as involving people, and technical leadership.
Predominantly powered by AWS, you'll design architectures for capturing, integrating, organising, and maintaining data, doubling down on Kafka for real-time, event-driven streaming that keeps our veterinary world in sync. Dive into Go and TypeScript for robust backends, cloud-native setups, and seamless integrations with AWS services. With a DevOps mindset, you'll automate CI/CD, IaC , and reliability in distributed systems-mastering event-driven practices to handle scale like a pro. If you're fired up about herding data cats in a fast-paced, domain-driven world with Kafka at the heart, let's chat!
