This position is HVAC Mechanic I located at the Dan River Prison Work Farm in Blanch, NC. This facility houses approximately 640 minimum, male offenders. Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, The HVAC Mechanic I position will perform tasks of installation, operation, preventive maintenance and repair of three facilities heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment. May also entail troubleshooting and testing of electrical, digital, and pneumatic controls. Primarily performs preventive maintenance actions as required on HVAC and refrigeration equipment, ice machines, water coolers, water pumps, and air compressors. Instruct lower-level assistants and offenders in performing technical repairs. Will work with minimum custody offenders and have frequent contact with offenders. The individual in this position must be available on a rotating basis for emergency call back. Individual should have some knowledge in the use of a personal computer. Additional duties as assigned. The facility sits on a 187.5-acre site in the north-central area of Caswell County and houses felon and misdemeanant minimum custody adult male offenders. Work assignments include food service, maintenance, janitorial and other institutional jobs. Other assignments include maintenance work at Caswell Correctional Center and the offender construction program. Work Schedule This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The selected candidate will work Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Hours may vary at times depending on the business needs of the facility.
