Associate IP Architect Speedcast is the world's trusted partner for critical remote connectivity, enabling operations across the most demanding environments on Earth. The Associate IP Architect reports to the Director of IP Architecture and works alongside the IP Architect to support the engineering design authority for Speedcast's IP-based network platforms. This role takes ownership of defined technical domains - such as SD-WAN/SASE, PE/transport, or network security - under the guidance of the IP Architect and Director. The Associate IP Architect develops domain-specific standards, reference designs, and implementation patterns while contributing to the broader architectural framework. The Associate IP Architect bridges the gap between architectural intent and engineering execution: translating approved designs into build-ready artefacts, validating implementations against standards, and supporting the NOC and Network Engineering teams with technically grounded documentation and escalation support. This position is designed as a growth path toward a full IP Architect role, developing breadth across platforms and maturity in architectural governance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic technical thinking. Key Areas of Responsibility: Reports to the Director, IP Architecture (or designated delegate), working day-to-day alongside the IP Architect. Takes ownership of one or more assigned technical domains within the IP architecture portfolio, developing expertise and driving standards within those domains under architectural guidance. Domain-Specific Design & Standards Own the design standards, reference architectures, and build guidelines for assigned domain(s) - for example: SD-WAN/SASE overlay, PE/transport layer (MPLS/SR/EVPN), network security and segmentation, or IP service edge. Develop and maintain domain-specific documentation as living, versioned artefacts - ensuring build guidelines, configuration templates, and platform standards are current, accessible, and aligned with the broader architectural framework. Translate high-level architectural decisions into detailed, build-ready designs (HLDs and LLDs) that can be executed by IP Engineering and validated by the NOC without routine escalation. Conduct proof-of-concept testing and lab validation for domain-specific technologies, feeding results back into standards and reference architectures. Define and document resiliency, failover, and capacity requirements within the assigned domain, ensuring alignment with platform-wide availability objectives. Implementation Support & Engineering Governance Serve as the primary technical reference for IP Engineering and third-party implementation partners within the assigned domain - reviewing configurations, validating deployments, and ensuring compliance with approved designs. Support design reviews at key implementation milestones, working with the IP Architect to validate that deliverables meet architectural standards and acceptance criteria. Assist in defining the technical scope and deliverable standards for internal and third-party engineering engagements within the domain, including design artefacts, implementation patterns, and documentation outputs. Contribute to change management and deployment methodologies, ensuring domain-specific considerations are captured in operational runbooks and rollback procedures. Product & Pre-Sales Technical Support Provide domain-specific technical input to Product and Systems Engineering on customer solution designs - ensuring proposals within the assigned domain are grounded in approved architecture and scalable across the platform. Support the IP Architect in pre-sales technical validation, contributing domain expertise to RFP responses, technical feasibility assessments, and solution costing. Develop reusable design patterns and solution templates within the assigned domain that accelerate pre-sales response and reduce bespoke design effort. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Development Collaborate with Global Infrastructure, Systems Engineering, and NOC teams to ensure domain-specific designs translate into operationally sound implementations with clear handover documentation. Support knowledge transfer sessions with operations and support teams, building domain competency and reducing escalation dependency. Stay current with emerging technologies, vendor roadmaps, and industry developments within the assigned domain - proposing improvements and evolution paths to the IP Architect and Director. Actively develop architectural breadth by contributing to cross-domain design reviews, standards discussions, and platform-wide initiatives beyond the primary domain assignment. Participate in vendor engagement and technology partner discussions, supporting the IP Architect on architectural matters and roadmap alignment. Working at Speedcast: At Speedcast, we want people that like adventure. Who are motivated by work that takes uncommon ingenuity and thinking out
