About the role

We're looking for a recruiter to own hiring rounds from start to finish, working alongside hiring managers each step of the way. You'll manage everything from writing job descriptions and screening applications to conducting interviews and facilitating offers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys communicating with candidates, and wants to contribute to hiring decisions that shape CEA's ability to accomplish our ambitious goals. We currently don't have the recruiting capacity to hire all the roles we have budgeted for; this role will counterfactually increase our pace of hiring, and thus our ability to grow and support the EA community.

Responsibilities

  • Your primary responsibility will be partnering with hiring managers to fill critical roles on the team. This includes:
  • Understanding hiring manager needs, calibrating with them throughout the process; serving as a thought partner and resource for hiring managers on recruiting best practices
  • Writing compelling job descriptions and launching open roles
  • Sourcing and attracting candidates through proactive outreach and network building
  • Screening applications and conducting initial interviews
  • Supporting the development and grading of test tasks in collaboration with hiring managers
  • Coordinating interview schedules between candidates and hiring teams
  • Conducting reference checks
  • Managing offer processes
  • Maintaining high standards and an excellent candidate experience throughout, ensuring communications reflect CEA's values
  • Project-managing the hiring rounds, keeping everything moving on time to meet recruiting targets, and adapting in response to changing priorities
  • Contributing to process improvement projects. This will start with clearly-scoped projects. Over time, your role may expand to include ownership over a particular area of recruiting operations (e.g., employer brand, sourcing, etc)
  • Tracking and maintaining candidate pipeline data

Requirements

  • You might be a good fit for this role if you:
  • Are organized and detail-oriented : you can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping balls, and you know how to prioritize when things get busy.
  • Have strong internal stakeholder management skills and instincts: you enjoy working closely with teams across the organization, can adapt to different working styles and priorities, and are comfortable navigating situations where you need to push back or redirect

Additional Information

We're hiring a Recruiter to join the recruiting team at the Centre for Effective Altruism. This is an individual contributor role owning full-cycle hiring rounds across the organization, reporting to the Recruiting Manager and collaborating closely with hiring managers across departments. About CEA The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) stewards the movement of people putting effective altruism principles into practice to solve the world's most pressing problems. We're working to build a flourishing future by applying evidence, reason, and compassion to challenges like global poverty, animal suffering, and existential risks. Our work centers on growing and supporting a global community of people who rigorously analyze where they can do the most good - and take action on those insights. Current strategic priorities include increasing understanding of effective altruism and its principles, growing the number of people who are motivated by EA principles to take significant action to address pressing problems, and diversifying funding sources for high-impact work. We had significant success in 2025, building momentum within CEA. Program participation (e.g., events, courses, groups) grew by 20-25% year over year. We merged with EA Funds and are rapidly scaling up our capacity for grantmaking and associated fundraising: our first Fund staffed with full-time employees ( EA Animal Welfare Fund ) raised almost as much as the previous three years combined. In 2026, we're maintaining ambitious momentum while building the foundations for a step-change in the wider EA ecosystem's growth trajectory from 2027 onwards. About the Recruiting Team CEA continues to grow. Since 2025, our headcount has grown from 42 to 66 core staff, with plans to add dozens more roles in 2026 and into 2027. To support this growth, we built out a dedicated recruiting function over the last year - professionalizing our hiring and building the capacity to attract exceptional talent to CEA and the EA movement. We're a small team running full-cycle hiring rounds across the organization. Our current focus is on hiring efficiently at scale while maintaining the high standards CEA's mission demands. Longer term, we're interested in expanding the ways our team can support hiring across the broader EA ecosystem. Reporting to the Recruiting Manager, you'll work alongside a small team of recruiters each independently running full-cycle hiring rounds, and will partner with hiring managers across the organization.
