About the role
This Security Officer (Unit Chief) position is located within the Security Management and Integrity Branch (SMIB), Office of Administrative Services (OAS). To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service developing, coordinating, and assessing an organization's physical security programs and making recommendations, and leading emergency preparedness programs. Examples of specialized experience include: Applying risk assessment methods, threat assessment principles, and physical security practices in order to make recommendations, plan, evaluate and develop physical security program components. Leading emergency preparedness programs, such as evacuations, shelter-in-place, and incident prevention. Overseeing information security for an organization and training individuals on the proper handling of classified materials. Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
