As a group we maintain a view of the strategic direction for the health system, in order to improve New Zealand's health outcomes. Joining the in the Strategy and Funding Group, you will have a part in influencing the strategic direction for the health system to improve New Zealand's health outcomes. We provide high quality policy advice to the Ministers and government to inform the decisions they make on the health portfolio at a system level. This is a tight-knit group of strategic thinkers and policy leaders who drive meaningful improvements across New Zealand's health system. You'll lead a team who lead advice on funding and investment in the health system. This team plays a vital role in guiding decision-making leading advice on health system investment priorities. This will be an opportunity to help influence investment decisions through the annual Budget process and examine some of the more fundamental funding settings that drive expenditure in health. As Manager of this team of 7 you will: Lead the Budget process for Vote Health. Develop advice to the Minister of Health on investment priorities and funding sustainability Lead thorough assessment of value for money and investment readiness Develop, lead, and monitor strategic initiatives aligned with Ministry objectives. Cultivate collaborative relationships across the health sector and government. Support team development through mentoring and capacity building. Monitor risks and maintain transparent communication with leadership. Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring Experience in leading a policy team, including steering policy analysis and advice Familiarity in public service finance and the government Budget process Skills in communicating effectively and strategically for Ministers and decision-makers Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to digest complex health policy issues into clear advice for government and sector audiences, Proven track record of stakeholder engagement, including brokering relationships and working collaboratively to influence decision making and deliver outcomes, Leadership experience and the ability to model public service behaviours and inspire others through integrity, transparency, and purpose, An understanding of equity in policy making, with the ability to embed these principles into best-practice frameworks that shape strategy and investment.
