As an Education Specialist, you will: - Report directly to the Director of Professional Development and Practice - Oversee Onboarding/Orientation of newly hired staff - Ongoing assessment of competency and evaluation of performance - Provision of continuing nursing education - Identify practice gaps and learning needs - Develop an appropriate education plan based on professional practice gaps and learning needs - Assist nurses in preparation for certification in a specialty - Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate activities that promote professional role development - Perform as a nurse planner and provide contact hours for educational offerings - Acts as a subject matter expert for policy and best-practice development Qualifications include: Required: - BSN (MSN preferred) - 4-5 years of perioperative nursing experience, including Operating Room circulator responsibilities experience recommended - Experience supporting a range of surgical procedures (e.g., general, orthopedic, GYN, neuro, oncology, endoscopy) - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Preferred: - Background in surgical technology or collaboration with surgical tech teams - Experience in education, training, or precepting clinical staff - Leadership experience such as charge nurse or team lead - Specialty certification (or interest in obtaining) - Familiarity with AORN standards and perioperative best practices - Engagement with professional organizations (e.g., AORN, Association of Surgical Technologists) Work Schedule: SGMC performs approximately 11,000 surgeries annually. Surgical Services team members include nurses, surgical technicians, surgical assistants, and others with variable shift times. SGMC provides surgical services 24/7. Employment Type: Full-time Hours per Week: 36 hrs/week Typical Daily Schedule: hours flex to meet the educational needs of the surgical department, Monday through Friday Shift Type: Day Weekend Requirements: Potential Holiday Requirements: Follow the company holiday calendar Sign-On incentive: of $20,000 paid in 3 installments (at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years from hire date).* Current AHC employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus if transferring between entities or within the same entity. Former employees must be separated from AHC for at least six months before becoming eligible if hired into a bonus-eligible role. Pay Range: $77,313.60 - $115,980.80 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
