Job Summary: Performs diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures on tractors, trailers, Company vehicles and other Company equipment. Repairs or replaces malfunctioning transportation equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities in the Trailer Mechanic I: Troubleshoots open circuits on trailers such as marker lights, brake lights, and clearance lights. Properly troubleshoots and repairs components of the electrical system such as alternator, starter, battery, etc. Inspects basic suspensions such as air bags, leveling valves, springs, shocks, pins, bushings, etc. Diagnoses and repairs 7-Way Plug system as needed. Inspects wheel alignment for trailers and makes repairs when necessary. Inspects steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, tires, and related parts. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Intermediate knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and applicable Company policies. Intermediate knowledge of refrigeration processes within compressors, evaporators, condensers, etc. Basic knowledge of wiring schematics. Basic mathematical skills. Basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook. Basic knowledge of federal and state regulations related to tractor and trailer requirements and associated environmental issues. Basic knowledge of warranty policies and procedures for trailer trucks. Ability to safely operate an oxyacetylene torch. Ability to operate a trailer Ability to successfully complete mechanical aptitude and other maintenance related evaluations. Ability to use power tools, precision hand tools, box cutters, cutting torches and welders. Ability to safely operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment. Ability to comprehend and interpret information. Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes. Ability to reason, form concepts, and recognize and solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal form. Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity. Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver Policy. Must have visual capability to see up close and far distances. Must have auditory capability to hear and understand information given whether directly through a headset unit, over the intercom, and/or the ability to hear warning signals/sounds, hazardous sounds, etc. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the BGC attendance policy. Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible. Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor. Education, Experience and Qualifications: High school Diploma or GED required. Two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required. Must be working towards Current DOT Commercial Driver's License (CDL), A/C Certification, Brake Inspector Certification, and Vehicle Inspector License. Minimum of 21 years of age required. Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy. Completion of vocational or technical school preferred. Completion of 608 type II certification required. Completion of Truck/Traile
