Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
2-4 years of experience developing software systems in production environments
Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, or Go
Familiarity with database design and data persistence patterns
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
Understanding of API design and RESTful service principles
Experience building or working with microservices and backend systems
Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker
Experience with API development and integration
Knowledge of caching strategies and performance optimization
Experience working in Agile development environments
Contributions to open-source projects related to backend or API development
Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and exposure to AI/ML frameworks

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer II to contribute to the design and development of robust API infrastructure and platform services for the Operations Technology Platform team. This role supports our platform engineering mission, where your work will help enable teams across Blue Origin to build scalable systems and applications. Contribute to the design and development of API infrastructure and backend services that power our platform ecosystem
Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Java, Python, Go, and C++
Build backend systems and microservices under guidance from senior engineers
Implement API design patterns, versioning strategies, and documentation to support platform usability
Participate in monitoring and observability practices to maintain system reliability
