Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed
Makes payroll corrections to resolve timecard issues, adjustments related to STD/FMLA and workers compensation, and others as needed
Reviews timesheets in Workday for completeness and accuracy
Audit weekly and biweekly employee expenses through payroll; gas, tolls CPR and employee expense reimbursements.
Assist with tax reconciliation and tax registrations and assist with year-end W2 prep and reconciliation.
Responsible for back up to weekly payroll, processing monthly arrears and loading weekly payroll files.
Creates management reports to support recommendations for policy and payroll procedures including internal and external ad hoc reports
Answers employee questions and maintains strict confidentiality of all payroll information
Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional societies
Other duties as assigned, including serving as back-up for other accounting team members when necessary
Requirements
3 plus years payroll experience, and 3 plus years tax registration and reconciliation experience such as technical skills, software proficiency, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, etc.
Multi-state, federal, and local tax experience required
Ability to calculate net salaries, considering deductions and withholdings
Proven ability to work productively, efficiently, confidentially, and effectively under a tight timeline
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to seek resources as needed
Proven customer service skills while maintaining a confidential work environment
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:
Associate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for calculating wages, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and taxes. The Payroll Specialist will audit employee expenses and commissions through payroll and generate and process payroll reports to audit payroll systems and to provide detail to management.
