Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on biomedical and clinical equipment in accordance with established schedules and manufacturer specifications

Requirements

  • Education:
  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • No experience required if you have a BS in Bioengineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with biomedical or medical equipment in a hospital or healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) Preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of biomedical equipment, electronics, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medical equipment issues
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., safety standards, compliance guidelines)
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with clinical and technical staff
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and tracking systems
  • Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Work performed in clinical environments, laboratories, and bioengineering shop areas
  • Exposure to patient care areas, mechanical systems, and electrical equipment
  • May requires lifting, moving, or installing equipment (moderate to heavy lifting)
  • Travel between Montefiore sites, including Mount Vernon, required

Job Summary This position is responsible for the support of Montefiore Mount Vernon's clinical, biomedical, analytical, laboratory, and scientific systems and devices. Support includes testing, basic troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, inspection, calibration, and documentation in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements and Montefiore policies and procedures. The associate will be required to travel and provide support at Mount Vernon off-site locations as needed.
