About the role

The Maine Bureau of Insurance seeks an attorney to provide legal assistance to various work units. The position will primarily provide assistance to the Financial Analysis Division, Examination Division and the Market Conduct Unit. These work units perform technical financial and market regulation functions, including analysis and examinations, under standards established by Maine law and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Requirements

Familiarity with or the ability to learn the legal standards and requirements of insurance financial and market conduct regulation.

Ability to provide clear legal analysis on complex financial regulation matters.

Ability to communicate complex issues clearly in writing and orally.

Familiarity with Maine's insurance laws and regulations.

Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.

Ability for occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.

This is a hybrid remote/in-office position.

A Law degree from an accredited law school.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Admitted to practice law in Maine and currently registered with the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar.
