Key Responsibilities Include: Manage the review and evaluation of environmental and natural heritage related studies and reports submitted in support of development applications or prepared in support of long-range planning studies Provide professional environmental and natural heritage systems input and advice to Town staff on development applications and long-range planning matters Function as the primary point of contact for environmental and natural heritage systems matters at the Town Responsible for the project management, coordination and administration of municipally initiated environmental or natural heritage systems/features projects and strategies Manages the activities of consultants carrying out work or completing peer reviews of environmental or natural heritage materials Lead the development of natural heritage policy and aggregate policy studies, and assist external consultants to conduct natural heritage planning reviews Review all types of development applications from a natural heritage/ecological perspective and prepare comments and recommendations Conduct data collection, research, and analysis on a range of natural heritage planning matters Represent the Department at meetings with Provincial, Regional, Municipal, and Conservation Authority staff, as well as Niagara Escarpment Commission hearings, Committee of Adjustment hearings, and public meetings Coordinate public consultation meetings pertaining to natural heritage planning matters and present studies, policies, and Town initiatives to interest groups, stakeholders, and the public Undertake site visits and participate in any natural heritage staking activities Review policy initiatives of other agencies to protect and advance the Town's interest Provide guidance and advice to other planners and senior staff on complex natural heritage policy studies and development applications Prepare terms of reference and administer consultant studies Represent the Development Services Department in committees of inter-municipal planning studies Education & Experience
