About the role

Accurately and efficiently transport patients, wheelchairs, stretchers and traction equipment to and from the nursing units and ancillary departments. Use transport equipment correctly ensuring safety measures are adhered to. Cleans, repairs and maintains equipment for operability. Support the philosophy of nursing to provide better patient care. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Transport patients with appropriate and approved devices safely and in a timely manner Observe patients for any changes in condition and report these promptly to shift supervisor and appropriate nursing staff Demonstrate correct techniques in handling patient tubes, IV's and other patient equipment Demonstrate proper procedure for transporting patients Utilize proper body mechanics to discharge, transfer and position patients during transport Identify transportation equipment in need of repair and follow appropriate steps to repair equipment for safe use Use Rover device properly with EPIC Transport Command Center Other duties as assigned
