Create positive plaster molds, strip negative casts, thermoform plastic, cutout, grind and smooth plastic for orthoses or prostheses. Contour, drill, polish metal work for devices and add closures as requested. Sewing materials as required and assist practitioners on a PRN basis as needed. Fit patients with shoes or fabricate shoe lifts Track and order materials for inventory and manage equipment Cares for and comes in contact with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school age patients Interface with all clinical and lab staff regarding application of varied techniques to produce the most technically advanced and functional O&P devices. Contribute to the training of residents and students as assigned Perform all duties of the production assistant as needed Required Skills/Abilities High school degree or equivalent required. Certificate from an ABC recognized O&P school, or a minimum of one year's applicable technical experience required. Must have sufficient knowledge and capability to fabricate all types of orthoses or prostheses as directed by the lab supervisor Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills Working Environment Working conditions: Inside Working Position: Sitting, Standing, Walking Physical Demands: Very Heavy Physical Requirements: Lifting/Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, Repetitive Movement, & Stooping/Kneeling/Bending An Individual in this position will be required to list or carry weight in this group: Between 75-100 lbs Sensory/Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position: Hearing, Seeing, Speaking, Feeling, Smelling An Individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Loud noise, Chemical hazards, and Respiratory hazards
