Oversee the work flow of the department and communicate standards.
Perform direct supervision of staff, to include clinical reviews.
Plan and prepare employee work schedules.

Participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides ongoing education.
Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment.
Confer with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems, and to discuss company policies.
Investigate complaints about service and equipment, and take corrective action.
Forecast necessary levels of staffing and stock at different times to facilitate effective scheduling and ordering.
Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
Inventory stock to ensure that supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts.
Issue supplies and equipment to workers.
Maintain required records of work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other information.
Perform or assist with departmental operational duties as necessary.
Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency.
Screen job applicants, and hire new employees.
Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, or furnishings.
Monitors patient satisfaction and seeks ways to improve patient satisfaction.

Requirements
Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapist program Required
Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Bachelors with appropriate degree within 3 years Required
1-3 years 3 years critical care experience Preferred
1-3 years 2 years supervisory experience Preferred
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

A Brief Overview
Provides leadership to staff of Respiratory Care in WB and FM campuses. Directly involved in the supervision of staff and plays an integral role in Respiratory Care operations, including but not limited to hiring, disciplinary action, discharging, scheduling, assigning work, and recognition. May perform tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapists. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.Plans and implements respiratory budgets, has 24-hour accountability, monitors productivity reports and collaborates with other leaders to facilitate favorable financial performance. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards and evidence-based practices for specified units' scope of care and ensures compliance. Supervises staff in the units and plays an integral role in departmental operations, including but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, promoting, discharging, assigning work, evaluating, rewarding, and disciplining.
