Description of Work * DHHS only* Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for Health Care Technician II position in Adolescents. This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled health care activities for mentally ill patients with physical as well as behavioral problems. This position works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Nursing Supervision. They model professional behavior and interactions and facilitate unit-based patient activities in a manner that maintains a safe and therapeutic milieu. Additionally, Health Care Technician II is responsible for performing all HCT I task, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by the Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates professional behavior in interactions with all patients and co-workers and has a thorough working knowledge of daily operations of the patient care units. They must illustrate the ability to effectively interact and communicate with a diverse patient population, family members, and other team members. Additionally, the Health Care Technician II must demonstrate the ability to effectively, accurately, and clearly document client progress and behaviors in the medical record. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $32,444.00 - $48,665.00 *A Sign-on bonus of $15,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Current NC Certification as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II Management Preferences Experience working in a direct patient care role in a psychiatric hospital Current NC Certification as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II Conditional Requirements: Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation. The normal work schedule is a 40-hour/week schedule Monday through Friday with alternating weekends and holidays. 12-hour shifts will be considered upon request. The following shifts are available: Work Schedule Shift Premium 8-hour Day: 7:00 am-3:30 pm 5% Weekend 8-hour Evening: 3:00 pm-11:30 pm 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend 8-hour Night: 11:00 pm-7:30 am 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend *12-hour shifts will be considered upon request *Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
