Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. ( no weekends! ) As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. About You To be considered for this role, you must have the following: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Earth Science, Environmental Science, or other related field with 3+ years of related experience. OR: Master's degree in a similar field with 2+ years of related experience. OR: 7+ years of professional job-related experience in the management of technical projects/programs and strategic planning may substitute for the required education. Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire. The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities: Please note that these are not requirements but bonuses for your consideration. ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification. Working knowledge of FEMA programs, including the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Community Rating System (CRS), and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Familiarity with flood mitigation practices, elevation certificates, map revisions, and Letters of Map Change. Understanding of flood insurance, Florida Building Code, and general construction and development regulations, with experience in technical review, public speaking, and GIS (ArcMap). Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
